I found out that two of the links on the "Songs" page of Real Otaku Heroes weren't working, so I fixed them (I forgot to upload the files after changning the links) - why don't people tell me these things?! Chou mukatsuku! You'd think one of the 20 people who actually liked the songs they could download would've wanted to hear all of them...

For those of you who haven't noticed, there's a new update out for Melty Blood Re•ACT - look for a file called 0623.lzh. I still haven't installed the last one yet...

One of the cool things about Galaxy Angel is the sheer number of in-jokes that the creators use. For example, in Season 3, Episodes 37-38, Vanilla H is playing a love simulation game aimed at girls, and a number of options appear on the screen at one point asking what hobbies she likes. She then inputs the following: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, B.
After doing this, an extra option (the praying icon) appears under the normal choices. I wonder how many younger viewers understood this joke. After so many years, it's impressive that people still remember this. All hail Konami...

As I was playing more Melty Blood Re•ACT, I noticed that one of Hisui's attacks involves a spatula (her right hand). Obviously, this means that Hisui is a very powerful character. ^_^ She has to be to tangle with vampires, demons, and familiars - oh my! I was also reminded me of the fact that Hatsune uses two spatulas, in one of her attacks, and we all know how devastating her attacks can be...
As long as we're on the subject of Melty Blood Re•ACT, there's a new update out - look for a file called 0615.lzh. I'm waiting to see what people think of it before I install it on my system. I also came across a mirror for patches for all of the Watanabe Seisakujo games that I mention in the Games section.

When I was watching Koi Kaze, I thought something was a bit odd about the character design, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
Later, I realized that it's because the inside of their mouths are white. Sure it's a trivial detail, but it felt like a splinter in my mind; I suppose it's due to my obsessive nature. I'm sure that there are other instances where this is the case, but I can' seem to think of any. I don't even know why I suddenly noticed something like this. Watching too much anime has probably taken its toll on my mind.
June 13, 2004 / rage
On Late Night with Conan O'Brian, there's a segment called Pierre Bernard's Recliner of Rage, where a "member" of the staff by the same name, sits in a recliner and supposedly verbalizes the latent anger of Americans everywhere. Of course, it's usually about trivial things like iPod accessories or getting rid of a lame character from Stargate: SG-1; however, on Saturday, June 12th (~1am), he described how he was collecting a "Japanese Anime" called Robotech in VHS format, and he never got to finish collecting it because they stopped making it. Although it was re-released more recently, there are several titles that bear the name Robotech and Macross and that he was confused at the various collections out there; he didn't want to waste his time and money buying sets that weren't related to the original story. "Bottom line, America. There should be one definitive collection so I can find out what happened to that town in the bubble." (It's not an exact quote; I wish I had a PVR to record it).

I've got signal! Yes, I have an actual copy of Melty Blood Re•ACT. Now my collection is complete - I have authentic CDs for QoH '99, Party's Breaker, Melty Blood, and Melty Blood Re•ACT.
Fortunately, I remembered that it's easy enough to save replays, so I saved a replay of the match. Keep in mind that it's for a totally clean install of Version 2.000, so I don't know if they fixed it yet. Also, if you do get to watch it, just watch the first round, since the other rounds are us sucking it up (we only played it a couple hours). I did see that there's a new patch that's up, but I still need to sift through the Melty Blood message board on GameFAQs to see if it's worth it.

I finally finished moving everything, so if you notice anything is broken, please let me know!
Instead of an anvil or a potted plant, the most common falling object in anime seems to be a large washpan. I wonder why they use this particular object. I suppose it's rather ridiculous for such a thing to randomly fall on a person's head, but this could be true of many household objects. I think it might be because a large washpan can create a particular type of noise (like using a halisen), and it isn't fatal if one does fall on your head (American cartoon characters tend to be more durable). Of course, it could be common to toss around large washpans in Japan, hoping it lands on someone's head, thus creating laughs for all...
June 6, 2004 / shuffle
I'm moving things around a bit soon, so if you linked to certain pages within this site it is likely you'll get errors when I complete moving everything. I assure you everything still exists; you just need to update links. My original arrangement was a bit haphazard so it's taken me forever to change all of my 150+ pages. Quite the headache.

Melty Blood Re•ACT is out for those of you who don't know; everyone else is busy whoring it from torrents. Fortunately, a friend of mine in Japan said he picked up a copy for me; unless he doesn't make it back to America, I'll be enjoying new fighting action in about a week. Soon it shall be mine... In the meantime, I'll study the excellent guide here so I can start the beatdown as soon as it arrives.
