I got a chance to watch Howl's Moving Castle at a special screening near USC yesterday, and it was quite enjoyable. Fortunately, it was subtitled; unfortunately, the picture was moving around for a siginificant amount of time. The University Village isn't the best place to watch a cool movie, but it was free, so I'm not complaining too much. I also spotted a spatula around 30 minutes into the film. Too bad I couldn't do a screen capture - they confiscated all forms of cameras (even phones with cameras) until you left the theater. ;_;

I always wondered what the deal with flowers on people's heads is about. I can sort of understand one being on Onsokumaru's head in the first pic since 2x2=Shinobuden is pretty silly.
Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful is a serious drama highlighting the conflict of technology and nature. After I saw that pic, I lost all hope in humanity as portrayed by anime.

While Nina (Ultra Maniac) and Miyu (Daa! Daa! Daa!) are "Pretty", Yuuki (G-On Riders) is "SUPER CUTE".
I have no idea why I thought that...

It should come as no surprise that I found the following pic from 4chan amusing.
I don't know who made it, but that person is okay in my book ^_^

Seeing famous musical artists in anime isn't that unusual, but it's fun to look for them. The first two are from Gad Guard, and the third is from GTO.
As if that wasn't enough, I thought I'd make one a Pic of the Week. Truly, you have seen into the murky and forsaken depths of the mind of The Spatula.

I'm still not sure what a "MAIGE" is in Da Capo - probably an optical aberration that appears when an anime character tries to focus on distant objects.
Speaking of physical defects, I ran across a curious thread talking about the physics lessons in Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster.

I used to want to try some exotic French food, but the following sign from Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final made me reconsider.
I can always count on anime to give me accurate impressions of various world cultures - Chinees for the last entry and now the French. Who needs to read books or watch the news anymore?

As usual, there's always something curious in Gad Guard.
Hmm... it seemed funnier earlier. I guess you had to be there.

There's something odd about the cast list for the school play below from Sugar: A Little Snow Fairy Summer Special.
Yep, you guessed it - fairy tales don't have a role for "forest". It's really very odd. I feel sorry for the kid who has to be that...

I always wondered why anime would sometimes tell you to "sit away from the TV in a well-lit room". After watching Ah! My Goddess (TV), Everything makes sense now...
There are also some new match videos of Melty Blood: Act Cadenza up on Yukinose's site - get 'em while they're SPICY HOT LOLIGASMS!!

There's nothing particularly odd about the next picture from RAVE, I just though it was silly.
This is probably old news to most, but there are some curious match videos of Melty Blood: Act Cadenza up on Yukinose's site; hopefully they're still up (the lifetime of videos on that site is short).
