Grant Goodmorrow

April 27, 2005 / rhyolite

I got a chance to watch Howl's Moving Castle at a special screening near USC yesterday, and it was quite enjoyable. Fortunately, it was subtitled; unfortunately, the picture was moving around for a siginificant amount of time. The University Village isn't the best place to watch a cool movie, but it was free, so I'm not complaining too much. I also spotted a spatula around 30 minutes into the film. Too bad I couldn't do a screen capture - they confiscated all forms of cameras (even phones with cameras) until you left the theater. ;_;

Speaking of spatulas, it's been a while since I've found one, so here's another one.

I always wondered what the deal with flowers on people's heads is about. I can sort of understand one being on Onsokumaru's head in the first pic since 2x2=Shinobuden is pretty silly.

2x2=Shinobuden    Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful

Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful is a serious drama highlighting the conflict of technology and nature. After I saw that pic, I lost all hope in humanity as portrayed by anime.

I need to watch Futakoi Alternative again to re-connect with my fellow man.

Now, where did I put that Pic of the Week...

April 22, 2005 / mignonette

While Nina (Ultra Maniac) and Miyu (Daa! Daa! Daa!) are "Pretty", Yuuki (G-On Riders) is "SUPER CUTE".

PRETTY Nina   pretty Miyu   SUPER CUTE Yuuki

I have no idea why I thought that...

For those of you into Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, you might want to check out this link that Zefi! sent me. He also said "After it ends you can click on ~FIN~ for an omake, but you might not get it unless you've seen up to Ep. 33 of Gundam Seed."

I suppose I should probably watch those series one of these days...

It should come as no surprise that I found the following pic from 4chan amusing.

iHOP

I don't know who made it, but that person is okay in my book ^_^

Speaking of silly things, I had the urge to pop some bubble wrap the other day, but didn't want to because it's kind of expensive after a while. Fortunately, Ixis sent me a link for a virtual version of that activity.

After spending some time doing that, I decided I should go take a look at some recent match videos of Melty Blood: Act Cadenza (hopefully it still works).

Seeing famous musical artists in anime isn't that unusual, but it's fun to look for them. The first two are from Gad Guard, and the third is from GTO.

Louis Armstro    RAMO*ES    Rolling Stones

As if that wasn't enough, I thought I'd make one a Pic of the Week. Truly, you have seen into the murky and forsaken depths of the mind of The Spatula.

Scariest.

April 14, 2005 / eclogue

I'm still not sure what a "MAIGE" is in Da Capo - probably an optical aberration that appears when an anime character tries to focus on distant objects.

MAIGE STABILIZER

Speaking of physical defects, I ran across a curious thread talking about the physics lessons in Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster.

Rakshasa sent me a link to an odd flash fighting game based on the ascii art characters from 2chan.

Scarier.

I used to want to try some exotic French food, but the following sign from Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final made me reconsider.

CAFE LES DSUX MAGOTS

I can always count on anime to give me accurate impressions of various world cultures - Chinees for the last entry and now the French. Who needs to read books or watch the news anymore?

I was reading Animefringe the other day, and I noticed something curious in the Mail Desk section. Most of the emails seemed like the usual fare (ignore the second one), but I was surprised to see someone who claims to be "one of the heads of Eiken's American fanbase."

Scary.

April 10, 2005 / venire

As usual, there's always something curious in Gad Guard.

CHINEES

Hmm... it seemed funnier earlier. I guess you had to be there.

Oh well, I'll just use the ol' standby - the inevitable Pic of the Week.

April 8, 2005 / winnow

There's something odd about the cast list for the school play below from Sugar: A Little Snow Fairy Summer Special.

forest ok

Yep, you guessed it - fairy tales don't have a role for "forest". It's really very odd. I feel sorry for the kid who has to be that...

I wonder which role Greta would play...

It's Friday. Have some fun and take a neat quiz that Ixis sent my way...

April 6, 2005 / rood

I always wondered why anime would sometimes tell you to "sit away from the TV in a well-lit room". After watching Ah! My Goddess (TV), Everything makes sense now...

Near the TV = Bad

There are also some new match videos of Melty Blood: Act Cadenza up on Yukinose's site - get 'em while they're SPICY HOT LOLIGASMS!!

Uh... I don't know where that last comment came from...

April 3, 2005 / nisi

There's nothing particularly odd about the next picture from RAVE, I just though it was silly.

PANK STREET

This is probably old news to most, but there are some curious match videos of Melty Blood: Act Cadenza up on Yukinose's site; hopefully they're still up (the lifetime of videos on that site is short).

Oh yeah, the Pic of the Week isn't a reminder about Daylight Savings Time.

Tabun...
