Apparently, TYPE-MOON (the group that made Shingetsutan Tsukihime) is coming out with another game called Fate/staynight on January 30, 2004 (this Friday). You can see the demo here. It looks pretty cool.

Also, it seems like Brandon over at insert credit decided to link to my site because of the parody of the Bud Light - Real American Heroes ads that Vince (also from insert credit) and I made (Real Otaku Heroes). You can get the first one here. I really didn't think that it would get that much attention since only two people responded to my post over at AnimeLyrics.com. Of course, Vince's posts to his various forums gathered 50 times as many responses, which indicates to me that he is better known and more people like him. >.<

At least 10 people know my site exists now, so that's cool...

The winner is me!

The renowned and mysterious guy over at Studio Neko-Hanten had a give away for a newspaper for Maria-sama ga Miteru (nicknamed "Mari Mite"). The winners were listed in his "27 Jan 04" entry in the news section (butsu butsu butsu). He had three prizes and there were exactly three entries! It doesn't get any more perfect than that. ^_^

I noticed something else cool - the three winners are Silver Star, Stuart, and (The) Spatula. Hmm... The site is called Studio Neko-Hanten. Double hmm... Maybe it isn't a coincidence...

I noticed that in two different anime, Ai Yori Aoshi ~ Enishi (below on the left) and Tenshi na Konamaiki, there were stores with the same name.

Ai Yori Aoshi ~ Enishi    Tenshi na Konamaiki

At first, I thought that it was just a simple spelling error, but the store fronts are exactly the same. So I did some searching, and it seems like it is a parody of a particular clothing store in Japan called Rose Bud. Apparently, they have stores in Shibuya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Sendai, and Osaka. Neat.

In a rare fit of productivity, I added another page to the Anime section featuring Spatulas in Anime. I also moved the Avatars and Stellvia Shockwave pages to this section since they are anime-related.

Finally, I give you the Pic of the Week

My thoughts on the ubiquitous Atkins Diet madness.

There is also a new comic featuring Habanero-tan.

Once again, I present to you the Pic of the Week.

I don't like to drink beer, but I have to admit that some of the commercials they make are pretty funny. Take for instance the Bud Light radio commercials that are archived here. Here's an example of the dialogue (the singer sounds like the lead to Journey):

Narrator: Bud Light presents, Real Men of Genius.
Singer: Real Men of Genius!
Narrator: Today we salute you, Mr. Giant Taco Salad Inventor.
Singer: Mr. Giant Taco Salad Inventor!
Narrator: A culinary creation that baffles the human mind. A twelve-thousand calorie salad.
Singer: Ay caramba!
Narrator: Ground beef, guacamole, refried beans, cheese, sour cream, and if there's any room left, a few shreds of lettuce.
Female Chorus: I don't see no lettuce!
Narrator: Some may ask, "Is your Taco Salad healthy?" Of course it is. It's a salad, isn't it?
Singer: You can eat that deep-fried crunchy bowl!
Narrator: So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, conquistador of the calorie. You put the feast in "fiesta".
Singer: Mr. Giant Taco Salad Inventor!
Narrator: Bud Light beer, Anheischeur Busch, Fort Collins, Colorado.

They are a winning combination of praise and mockery that is very well produced, so get it while you can!

Don't forget about the Pic of the Week though!

I was browsing 4chan the other day, and I came across the a rather curious item:

Habanero-tan

She is a doujin character called Habanero-tan whom you can find here (I didn't link to the actual images since the creator asked only to put links to the front page, so you have to look around a bit for the four panel comics and images). Apparently, she is based on a certain brand of habanero rings (be sure to watch the flash animation at the top, it's hilarious). A pretty creative character, so check it out! Email me if you want translated versions.

I also added another section called Special Startup Screens to the Other section of my Queen of Heart '99 FAQ.

I've been playing a bit of the Melty Blood: ReACT demo (information can be found here) and it feels pretty good. It is quite different from the original Melty Blood. One of the first things you notice is that the fighting engine is designed for speed. The air time for a normal jump is about half, and the moves come out a bit faster. It is now more difficult to do certain combos because of the quick reactions of the characters. I can't seem to do the Arcueid infinite OTG air throw now, so I hope that they will "fix" the other infinites for other characters as well. Unfortunately, the character graphics are still a bit jagged. Oh well. The gameplay is fast and smooth, which is a big plus in my book. I can't wait for the real thing.

But enough about that! Behold the Pic of the Week!

Happy New Year! I know it's a day late, but I'm sure the handful of readers out there will forgive me since they are such cool people. ^_^

I got a few questions about The Queen of Heart '99 so I decided to update the Other section by adding two new subsections labeled Possible Problems and Customizing QoH '99. The Other section is about twice as long, so keep scrolling down to see the good stuff!
